Chapter 4: Bulkheads - Started 6/06 - Finished 3/07

As of 6/9/06 I still have not ordered any foam or fiberglass, so I have been trying to work on templates and jigs until I have enough money saved to place an order.  I almost have enough money saved for chapters 4-7, so hopefully I will be able to begin on the bulkheads very soon.

Below are pictures of the temporary firewall.  It is made out of .25 inch plywood that I was able to pick up at Home Depot.
I took the original drawings of the firewall to Kinkos and had them copied.  I then aligned the copies over the originals and held them up to a light to make sure that the copies were the exact same size as the originals.
Once I confirmed that the copies were the same size, I cut them out and glued them to the plywood using a spray adhesive and a foam paint roller.  I then used my jigsaw and sanded to get to the final shape of the firewall.

3/07 - Here is a picture of the completed bulkheads.  Nothing really different from the plans.  I did add a quater inch to the bottom of the instrument panel, as suggested on some other builders' websites, to insure that the bottom of the panel would reach the fuselage floor.
