This site will document my building of a composite, plans built airplane, the Cozy Mk IV.

The Cozy Mk IV is a variation of the Long-EZ canard aircraft, designed by Burt Rutan. Nat Puffer modified the Long-EZ to first create the Cozy III and then the Cozy Mk IV, both canard airplanes with side-by-side front seating.  The Cozy is built using the same moldless fiberglass construction techniques developed by Rutan for the VariEze and Long-EZ plans built airplanes.

The Cozy Mk IV is a composite 4 seat canard aircraft powered by a Lycoming 180hp O-360 piston engine. With an empty weight of 1050 lbs. and a gross weight of 2050 lbs., it is capable of reaching speeds of 220mph and traveling up to 1300 miles on a single load of fuel.

The aircraft is built from plans, meaning that you shape and fabricate all of the foam, fiberglass, metal and wood that is used to build the the airplane.  However some parts such as the landing gear, canopy, cowling, metal fittings and engine mount can be purchased from authorized suppliers
